Summary:
[Evening, 16 Nightal]
Jaran and G’Kar argue about loyalty and attacking without asking questions first. Gwynnedh they should return to Velen to retrieve Lyta and Connor. Jaran arranges the body of the dead giant in a respectful position and says a little prayer to Shaundakul. Jaran takes the broom for a nightly survery of the surrounding region. It is too dark to notice anything. Night passes by uneventfully.
[Morning, 17 Nightal]
G’Kar and Gwynnedh discuss armour and how it works with female anatomy as they each help each other don their suits. Jaran uses the broom to scout up, seeing if see can spot the battle off in the distance. The rain is too thick. G’Kar asks for an augury of their upcoming teleport to Velen. They teleport to Velen. It is not raining.
Lyta is released from jail, having served her time. Connor, having offered to pay for his fallen opponents resurrection, if freed from jail early (although he still pays the fine). Lyta is pissed. G’Kar, Jaran, Gwynnedh and Kalcryx arrive to see Lyta as she is being released.
As they leave the jail, they notice that the wind has picked up, the sky is overcast, the temperature has dropped, and the streets are strangely empty. It gets supernaturaly dark.
Kalcryx pulls out a coin with continual light, negating the darkness. Four snake bodied women are visible, each of their six arms holding a long curved blade. They slither closer, ready to attack. Facing away from the group, in the distance is a lone figure. Clad in blood red armour, with black skin and black feathered wings. The group recognizes Jarl.
Two of the snake women charge G’Kar, and with a flurry of blades, he is cut down. Lyta reacts by placing a wall of ice between the group and their opponents. Hopefully they will have time to heal. Kalcryx utters a recitation.
Jarl flies over the wall of ice, landing next to Jaran. “Hey, you still owe me money, Jarl!”. She backs up, not attacking him. A snake woman punches through a section of the wall of ice with her swords. Kalcryx moves to aid G’Kar, who regains consciousness as his wounds heal.
Jarl rushes Kalcryx, and with sword and shield, Kalcryx is brought to near death. Jaran reinforces the wall of ice. Gwynnedh readies her spear and attacks Jarl, piercing his tough demonic flesh. G’Kar regains his footing as the attacks on the wall of ice cease. Lyta splashes Jarl with a pair of acid bolts. Kalcryx pulls away to heal himself.
Jarl and Connor engage in battle, both taking significant wounds. The snake women, resistant to magic, attempt to punch through Lyta’s conjured ice, and succeed. They all attack Gwynnedh, Jaran, Lyta and Kalcryx.
Kalcryx is felled, Jaran is felled, Lyta is felled. Jarl takes down Connor.
Jaran moves to engage Jarl. “Why are you doing this?” he screams. Gwynnedh is constricted by one of the snake bodied women, and is unable to defend herself as multiple sword slashes cut across her body, and she is downed.
In a last desperate move, G’Kar engages Jarl in combat — however, Jarl is heavily armoured and G’Kar is unable to strike him. Jarl attacks, cutting deep wounds into G’Kar, and stunning him with the bashing of his shield. Finally, a snake woman releases Gwynnedh and moves to finish off G’Kar.
His vision goes red… then black, as he falls to his knees. Dead.
…
G’Kar is awakened by the sound of knocking on wood. He finds himself lying on a clean bed, covered with silk sheets. The room is decorated in extremely lavish furnishings, with gold and jewels everywhere. Someone knocks on the door again. He gets up, notices he is clad in nothing but fine silver silk robes. His hair and beard are neat and braided, and he wears a silver holy symbol around his neck.
A young woman is at the door. “My lord, will you please awaken the others? My Lord Gaelon requires your presence immediately.”
G’Kar’s mind floods with a million different questions. He sighs. “This is Gaelon’s house?”
“Of course, my Lord. I cannot answer your questions, Lord Gaelon has forbidden me such. I will take my leave”.
The young woman leaves, and G’Kar leaves his room, entering a common guest area. He proceeds to awaken Jaran, who is clad in fine deep blue silk robes. Together, they awaken Connor and Lyta, both clad in leaf motif silk robes. Finally, Gwynnedh and Kalcryx are awakened. Gwynnedh wears light blue and red robes, and has a Mystran holy symbol around her neck. Kalcryx is clad in white.
“Where are we?” someone asks.
Connor’s ears perk up. “I hear people approaching, they sound hostile.” The door breaks open, and a bowman appears.
Kalcryx envokes the rightous might of Helm, gaining tremendous size and strength. Connor moves to attack a bowman, using his fists as weapons. Lyta turns invisible, and Jaran searches her room for a weapon.
Kalcryx moves to attack the intruders, his long arms clawing at them with great fury. Jaran casts a spells, and a ball of ice forms freezing the intruders. Connor picks up a felled sword, and Kalcryx moves into the hallway to finish off the attackers.
G’Kar brings down chunks of rock onto the bowmen, and with a final attack, Kalcryx downs the last one. Connor and Gwynnedh bring the bodies into the guest area to strip them of their armour.
Kalcryx, Jaran and Lyta explore the rest of the hallway, finding a study and a courtyard. As the courtyard door open, Jaran notices a group of armed men running through. She conjures another ball of ice.
A skirmish breaks out, with Kalcryx blocking the incoming hallway and rending the newly recognized Banites. Jaran conjures a cloud of poisones gases and they scatter. Lyta calls on a group of celestial eagles to aid her, and they are summoned to her side.
Jaran dispels her poison cloud, and Kalcryx and Connor move in to finish off the remained of the group. The last guy is surrounded, and as his last dying move, he grabs three arrows from his quiver. Putting them all on the string at once, he aims them at Jaran — she is pierced by all three arrows, scoring deep gashes into her flesh.
The man is downed, and the priests distribute healing to those injured. Connor listens at a door, as various weapons and items are looted off the bodies.
“I hear shouting…. and argument. Something about a halfling… sounds like he’s being threatened.”
They open the door…
