G’Kar Speaks: To the Dwarves of Stormaxe

G’Kar points at Gwynn, faces the dwarves and shouts,
“Even though she is a human, she has fought bravely on the side of
Clangeddin to defeat His enemies! Behold, the temple was overrun with
Banites, but we have scourged the last of their disease from
Clangeddin’s Most Holy Temple.” He gestures around, including the entire
party. “These are my friends, and are to be reveared as holy since they
have aided in the cleansing of the temple, even the doing the will of
Clangeddin.”

“Stay your hammers and your anvils. Stop the shipments of arms and men
and pause to realize just who you have been working for these long
months, for we as righteous dwarves of Stormaxe have been greatly
deceived by wickedness and evil. Our people have been sent forward to
slaughter our friends and have fought alongside our enemies. Whenever a
fight turns against us, our Banite comrades in arms have turned and fled
like the cowards they are, leaving our brethren to be slaughtered alone.
SO MANY DISHONORABLE DEATHS, UNWORTHY OF THE RIGHTEOUS
FOLLOWERS OF CLANGEDDIN!!!”

“Our great High Priest Thorar Silverhand has been captured and I believe
murdered. He was tricked by those he believed were his allies. He lies
perhaps dead in an Abysal plane, where the very walls of their caves are
made of vile living flesh. Our armies have been marching and doing the
will of Bane, not the will of Clangeddin nor of Moradin. We have marched
alongside the enemy, who has stabbed us in the back in the eleventh
hour, even as we realized we have been deceived.”

“We must mobilize not against Tethyr, but against Amn instead. We must
now atone for shedding the blood of our friends, even though they may be
human, by shedding the blood of the enemy in turn. Clangeddin requires
that we right these wrongs; only then can we cross the great river after
death and take our place on the Holy Battlefields of the Great Beyond.
We must call our brothers in other dwarven cities. We must contact our
Elven allies. We must stop the war on the Good and Honorable Humans of
Tethyr–yes, I said Good and Honorable Humans! They do exist, and I have
fought alongside many”, he gestures to Gwynn.

“And maybe we may not care what happens to humans or elves, since we are
disinterested in the affairs of other races. But we have seen what
happens when we turn away and keep to ourselves. Wyrms invade and
terrorize our caves, and that is only the beginning. Behold, even our
great temple has been defiled. A room the shape of the Hand of Bane has
been constructed here in the temple, under our very noses! Bane will
stop at nothing. He will not leave our caves alone nor will he cease
infultrating our cities. He has planted spies amongst us. He has set
brother against brother. His reign over dwarven kind must come to an
end. And it begins TODAY!

“Join me now and fight the Most Holy Fight! I summon all priests and
warriors to my table to join my council. We go forth now and rid the
land of Banite deceit, treachery and evil.!”

Fall of Fury

Filed under: Summaries — Gabriel Rosa @ 8:18 pm

1-2 Hammer 1358 DR
[Game of May 8, 2004]

Fled Velen via teleport after dinner. Camped in underground tunnels, hidden behind Lyta’s Private Sanctum. Marched to dwarven city. Entered Stormaxe by teleporting into tavern room, disguised as regular dwarves. Walked around and questioned some dwarves about state of Stormaxe (sorta emptied, lots of dwarves looking busy crafting arms and armour). G’Kar goes over and talks to his wife and young son. Reveals himself to wife, asks about temple of Clangeddin.

Party moves to talk to priest of Moradin. KC retrieves his mithral plate armour (done 2 days ahead of schedule). Party moves to main gates of Clangeddin temple, drop their disguises, ask to be let in. Guards will only allow G’Kar to enter alone.

Party circles around to back, stoneshapes through the wall, finds that the main temple area has been converted into an underground Hand of Bane temple. There is much rejoicing. Err wait, nevermind.

The temple is assaulted. Five dwarves guard the temple, along with Thorar Silverhand, High Old One and High Priest of Clangeddin Silverbeard. He disowns G’Kar.

The dwarves are deafeated, and G’Kar cuts Thorar in half (yay critical hit), who turns out to be a doppleganger!

The 5th dwarf drops his disguise, and is a human cleric of Bane. He has a striking resemblance to Murdock Darkfury, but is older. G’Kar and KC decide he is Murdock’s father.

G’Kar casts Dimensional Anchor on the Imperceptor, barring his escape. Although confident and inflicting harm on the group, he decides to flee on foot.

He escapes to the top of the stairs, where he is stunned by Lyta’s wild surge. In the next few moments, he is pummeled with attacks, and falls to the ground.

The party rejoices.

Hero of the People

1 Hammer 1358DR
[Game of May 2nd, 2004]

Attacked by hill giants in the middle of the night (quickly dispatched). Return to Velen in the morning. Connor receives a sending from home, and feels compeled to return temporarily to the Wealdath to aid in defeating some demons.

On arrival, party is surrounded by market goes, crowd asks for advice, items, gems, etc, etc.

The crowd is parted by the always confident voice of Falderian, the Handsome, The Braaaaave. He wishes to take the party to lunch, and is particularly interested in Jaran.

Over lunch, he explains that Twinkle is jealous of Jaran’s popularity with the common folk. Her mageduel with the war wizard has sparked a sense of rebellion and some of the young people forced to work for twinkle are instead showing interest in learning arcane tricks, like Jaran. There is an assasin coming for Jaran sometime in the future.

Gwynnedh join Zaranda for a session. Much is borked. Lady Z explains that there is a contingency of around 2500 men south of the Starspire making their way North. There are also ships sailing south, some that may enter the Suldusk and sends troops into the forest via water.

The day passes as people shop.

Falderian takes the party to dinner. Half-way through the appetizers, a black clad woman jumps the courtyard wall and run towards Jaran, the party rises to aid, and KC summons a ring of blades around himself. The woman fights unarmed, and appears to take severe punishment without much consequence.

Before long, the assasin is surrounded and forced to retreat. She concentrates and dissipates ethereally, claiming to return better prepared in the future.
